Society Layouts
The Society has a number of layouts, and the policy of the Society is to have at least one, and whenever possible two, of them available for members to operate during the evenings. The Society has the following layouts either built or under construction.
Casterbridge
Casterbridge is the Society's latest 'O' gauge layout. It is a BR Southern Region model, based on Dorchester South in the late 1950's.
Romsey
Over the years, Romsey has been very popular at our annual exhibition. The model has been to many other exhibitions all over the country, where it has proved to be equally popular with visitors. Following the successful introduction of our new layout 'Ackthorpe', it has been decided that Romsey be retired. Enjoy the pictures of this popular model.
Ackthorpe
Ackthorpe is the latest Society layout in 'OO'/4 mm scale. Construction is sufficiently well advanced for it to have been invited to a number of exhibitions, following its introduction at our own 2005 exhibition. Based on the Swinton and Knottingly joint Midland/NER (later LMS/LNER) line in South Yorkshire, it represents the line as it was in the mid 1950s. In addition to the station area and local goods sidings, the model features interchange sidings with the local colliery.
