Botleigh is modelled closely on the actual station of Botley, between Eastleigh and Fareham. Space does not allow for a through station, and therefore artistic licence has been taken and Botleigh is now a terminus due to a landslip towards Fareham.

The period for this model is set in the late fifties to early sixties.

Due to the closeness of Eastleigh works, many different types of locomotives are often seen.
